Lafaye e Square open to public

Washington – Closed to the public and ringed by metal fencing for nearly a year, the park in front of the White House reopened on Monday in the latest sign Washington was returning to normal after the tense Trump years.

Lafayette Square is a peaceful patch of green featuring statues of Revolutionary War heroes. Tourists flocked there to take photographs.

It was closed last June after people protesting killing of George Floyd clashed with the police. –
