Statistics point to Implement and So Hi Class

- Larry Foley

Not many things are black and white in the punting game but following the trainers and jockeys who have exceptional strike-rates looks like a smart thing to do.

Mike Clements leads the trainers’ premiership and given his win strike-rate of 18.75% is just sa shade under 7% better than his closet rival (Meagher), his horses are always some hope of winning.

Likewise, Vlad Duric has the best strike-rate of the senior jockeys with 20.99% (next best 16.85%), but he currently sits second on the jockeys’ log with 17 wins, just one behind the hardworking and under-rated, Marc Lerner.

The leading apprentice - K Hakim - is well ahead of his peers with 23 wins (next best eight) and his strike-rate of 16.20% is over 8% ahead of the next best and his 3kg claim is a valuable asset to any horse he rides.

So, coupling the best with the best, it would not be the worst move to jump on board the Mick Clements-trained IMPLEMENT with Vlad Duric on-board in Race 6 and SO HI CLASS in Race 11, where Clements will leg up Hakim.

Both horses should provide value in open races and an eachway play on those strike-rates combined looks the go for canny punters.

Elsewhere on the card, and as you would expect, Duric looks to plenty of serious winning chances with DR KARDO (Race 2) and TEARDROPS (Race 12) his best.
