CHIEFS NEED TO WIN THE FINAL TO CASH IN

-

Kaizer Chiefs now stand on the brink of making serious money in international competition, although much of the R17.5 million they are guaranteed for reaching the African Champions League final has been gobbled up in expenses.

Chiefs have used charter planes to fly to their last four away matches at a cost of more than R1 million per trip. Add that to all their other travel and hosting expenses during the group phase and early knockout rounds, and at the end of the day they will be lucky to make a profit.

But if they win the 17 July final against Al Ahly, then the club makes R35.4 million, which would represent a considerable profit.

Added to that is entry into the Club World Cup in Japan at the end of the year, when they will be guaranteed a minimum of R30 million, an amount they can double if they win one match and make it to the semi-finals.
