GOLF 8: ORDER BOOKS OPEN FOR EAGERLY AWAITED HOT HATCH
180kW/370Nm 2.0-litre engine exclusively paired to DSG transmission.
Having detailed the new Golf 8 GTI in a series of teasers since March, Volkswagen has officially announced pricing details of its eagerly awaited hot hatch.
Poised to be followed later this year by the R as the sole derivatives of the eighth generation Golf to be offered locally, the GTI, as is already known, will derive motivation from the 2.0-litre TSI engine tweaked to deliver 180kW/370Nm.
Paired to a seven-speed DSG as standard with drive again going to the front wheels, the GTI will get from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4sec and top out at 250km/h.
The new, networked Vehicle Dynamics Manager control system coordinates all electro-mechanical running gear functions.
Dynamic Chassis Control running gear with variable shock absorbers is available as an option, enabling the driver to choose their own individual setup using the standard driving profile selection which results in an even more precise driving experience.
At the front, the Golf 8 GTI features wide air intakes, low-positioned standard LED headlights and signature light on the radiator grille which is illuminated for the first time by a narrow LED strip. A roof spoiler, diffuser and two round tailpipes located at the outer sides are striking features at the rear.
The GTI will ride on 18-inch Richmond alloy wheels and feature as standard 18-inch Richmond alloy wheels, Lights and Vision Package including high-beam control light assist, Climatronic air conditioning, heated leather-wrapped multi-function sports steering wheel with touch control and shifting paddles and GTI Vienna leather seats.
It also has a keyless locking and starting system, Composition Media Radio, multi-colour InnoVision Cockpit, App-Connect, Cruise Control with speed limiter, Park Distance Control, mobile phone interface with inductive charging function as well as 30-colour ambient lighting. The extensive options list consists of 18-inch Bergamo or 19-inch Adelaide alloys, Discover Media infotainment system with satellite navigation, Head-Up Display, Matrix LED headlights, an eight-speaker 480-watt Harman Kardon sound system and Park Assist.
Further additional extras include a 10-inch Discover Media infotainment system with embedded satellite navigation, eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, black styling package, Park Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Travel Assist, Front Assist and Autonomous Emergency Braking, and more.
The Golf 8 GTI goes on sale from 1 September.
