Consumers deceived with bargains
Black Friday is an extreme marketing fraud and fanciful international invention supported by the “unwoke gullible” and exploited by corporates and digital scam specialists.
It inspires me about as much as Thunbergian climate-squeaking and, while not being happy about paying R26 for a small Coke in a local club when two litres is available from Pick n Pay at R11, I do not support price hiking followed by trumped-up discounts.
There are maybe a few genuThanks ine bargains but for the most part, consumers are being deceived, encouraged to overspend and subliminally subjected to a barrage of “offers” which should be the price norm throughout the year.
On top of all the hype, it is a catalyst for Covid spread with zillions zipping about like dragonflies round multiple shops and stores searching for old stock and a few bob off a box of Bar Ones.
