Time to smile in Hong Kong

- Luke Middlebrook

Consistent five-year-old A SMILE LIKE YOURS can score a third career win in Race 5, the Class 4 1200m Handicap, at Happy Valley today.

A SMILE LIKE YOURS has hit career-best form this term after not doing much in his first seven starts last season. Resuming one-length into third place in early September, A SMILE LIKE YOURS now boasts a handy CV of two wins and three placings from six so far this season and was last seen checking home a good third place at this track and distance two weeks ago in a much stronger Class 4 than he contests this time.

A SMILE LIKE YOURS finds a winnable contest this week where many of his rivals need to find better form while his main rival, WINS ALL, will need luck from a wide gate first-up off a 259-day break.

With Joao Moreira back in the saddle after winning well on A SMILE LIKE YOURS four starts ago, they appear the ones to hold out.

In Race 7, barrier No 2 can see easy last start winner HAPPY GATHERING make it two backto-back wins when in the Class 4 1200m Handicap.

HAPPY GATHERING has found his best form this term based on his eye-catching run into third place when first-up in mid-September before breaking his duck second-up in a similar race to this.

That night he drew barrier No 4, enduring a perfect run one back on the rails before taking the lead at the 150m and going on to win comfortably by one length.

HAPPY GATHERING looks to have held his form after trialling nicely in between runs, while meeting a moderate Class 4 field where he has everything in his favour should see him make it a double.
