Ncikazi helped iron out Mosele’s Bafana issues

Orlando Pirates coach Mandla Ncikazi believes there is still a lot to come from midfielder Goodman Mosele (below), who was included in the Bafana Bafana squad that will take on France and Guinea in international friendlies later this month.

Mosele, who joined the Buccaneers from Baroka FC last July, has been a livewire for Pirates recently, while he was also called up to the South African Under-23 squad for last year’s Tokyo Olympics.

The midfielder also caused a stir last year when he was called for senior national duty for World Cup qualifiers, but never reported for camp.

However, all that is behind him, with the player focussing on the way forward with the national team.

And that’s all thanks to a meeting he had with Bafana coach Hugo Broos, with Mosele having being accompanied by Ncikazi.

The Bucs co-coach revealed that the Bafana boss was eager to meet up with Mosele and the senior national team coach understood the reasons behind the player’s decision not to honour the call-up last year.

“Mosele is a good player. Like I said last week, there’s more to come from him. What happened to him (with Bafana), I understood clearly because I am from the same background,” said the Bucs mentor.

“One should give credit to the initiative from the national coach.” said the Bucs mentor.

“He (Broos) wanted to meet him and I accompanied him (Mosele). We had a meeting with the head coach of the national team, and we ironed out the issues.

“Maybe we made him understand that some of our players go through a lot. I am happy that the coach accepted the apology.”

Mosele, who got the Manof-the-Match accolade in the Buccaneers 3-2 victory in their previous game against SuperSport United, will be hoping to continue with his fine form when the Buccaneers take on JS Saoura in the Caf Confederation Cup in Algeria tomorrow.
