How will they differentiate between the trucks carrying medical equipment and the vans carrying weapons? I refer to the article on Thursday about the bad experiences at a frail care centre. I had my first disappointing experience of an expensive, private frail care facility this year, after my mother had a stroke. These facilities are not what they sell in the glossy brochures. Be very alert and check up often should you need to leave your loved ones at such a place. Wayne
I read in the Heidelberg/Nigel local paper that the minister of small business development visited Ratanda in Heidelberg and promised, as usual, 30 million jobs by 2030. Since the birth of democracy in this country, the ANC could not even create five million jobs. If the people of Ratanda believe this, then the ANC will win the next election again. Viva, Herman Mashaba and John Steenhuisen, viva. These two will be the ones to deliver. Let’s bury the ANC for good. Viva, the better South Africa, viva.

Professor Sachs, our basic income grant is there to support people, but people must also do their share. Our birthrate is too high. Many unwanted babies are born so that the family can apply for another grant. Absent fathers and desperate, scared, ignorant mothers should all be educated that to receive a grant is a privilege, not a given. Babies are not piggy banks.

Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine will cost countless lives in Africa through food and fuel shortages. South Africans will pay more for fuel and food. The world must make Russia pay – and get rid of Putin before, in desperation, he uses nuclear weapons to destroy us. Richard Benson
