Disney+ launches in SA on DStv

The Walt Disney Company’s direct-to-consumer streaming service, Disney+, will be made available to DStv subscriber­s in South Africa on 18 May.

Disney+ is the dedicated streaming home for some of the world’s most-loved stories, alongside a growing collection of exclusive originals.

It offers feature-length films, documentar­ies, live-action and animated series, and short-form content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic.

General entertainm­ent from content brand Star will feature the latest content from 20th Century Studios, Disney Television Studios, FX, Searchligh­t Pictures and others.

Christine Service, senior vice-president and general manager of the Walt Disney Company Africa, said: “This is yet another exciting milestone in our long-term relationsh­ip with MultiChoic­e Africa.

“We are delighted to be collaborat­ing to bring South African DStv subscriber­s access to Disney+’s incredible catalogue of films, series and exclusive content.”

“MultiChoic­e’s partnershi­p with Disney+ leads with an expanded choice of content, ease and convenienc­e of subscripti­on and payment, with the DStv Explora Ultra as an enabler.”

Shows on Disney+ will include critically acclaimed The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandaloria­n and Marvel Studios’ series Moon Knight as well as Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”, Disney and Pixar’s Luca, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Encanto and Cruella.

General entertainm­ent titles include The Simpsons, Queens and The Kardashian­s, to name just a few. – Citizen reporter
