Dicey nuke plant may be revived
– A mothballed nuclear power plant built near a fault line and volcanoes in the Philippines during Ferdinand Marcos’ dictatorship could be revived if his son wins next week’s presidential election.
Even before the Chernobyl nuclear accident in 1986 sealed the Bataan plant’s fate, there were concerns about its design and location.
On the coast, 18 metres above sea level, it is near several volcanoes in an area regularly shaken by earthquakes. –
