No triple crown bid a er Derby

-

Washington – Long shot Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike will not race in next week’s Preakness, ending any chance of a Triple Crown sweep, and instead prepare to race again in June’s Belmont Stakes.

Rick Dawson, owner of the unfancied 80-1 horse that stunned the field last Saturday at Churchill Downs, announced his plans on Thursday. “We are going to stay with our plan of what’s best for Rich Strike is what’s best for our group, and pass on running in the Preakness, and point toward the Belmont in about five weeks.” –
