Steenhuisen right in visiting Ukraine

-

DA’s John Steenhuisen’s trip to Ukraine has, according to some, created a “public backlash”. Really? I have not witnessed any protests, demonstrations or vocal admonitions from the public.

One commentator writes that Steenhuisen is “another puppet” – a puppet controlled by whom?

The ANC government should be ashamed for not condemning Russia’s brutal and savage attack on Ukraine. Steenhuisen did not got to Ukraine to exert any influence on the war.

Prominent world leaders have visited Ukraine to show their support, so why are they not condemned for grandstanding? They all have many problems at home as well and could have watched the war on television.

A really stupid argument in condemning Steenhuisen.

ANC politicians have spent millions on lavish junkets to Europe, the UK, China and the US to look at, among other things, toilets and doors. Absolutely ridiculous.

Why are they so concerned about who donated what for Steenhuisen’s trip? The Western Cape is the best-run province and so are the municipalities run by the DA.

All provinces have social, crime and housing problems as well as other major issues, mostly created by the inefficient and badly administered federal government.

I’m sure Steenhuisen is well aware of the Western Cape’s problems and is working on all the issues confronting the DA wherever they are in control.

He and the DA should be applauded for the empathy and sympathy shown towards the ravaged citizens of the Ukraine and not condemned. Or is it jealousy, or the fear of superiority?

John
