CAF PRESSING AHEAD WITH SUPER LEAGUE
Confederation of African Football president Patrice Motsepe says plans for an African Super League are going ahead and promised the competition would be for the benefit of the entire continent and not just the clubs that take part. Details remain sketchy, but it is believed 20 of the biggest football brands on the continent will play a competition that will in essence replace the CAF Champions League as Africa’s elite club trophy. Mamelodi Sundowns are a certainty from South Africa, while Kaizer Chiefs have also held talks with CAF. Orlando Pirates are less enthusiastic about the idea.
