Klate hopes his players cut out recurring errors

With a daunting fixture against his former club Orlando Pirates coming up, Chippa United coach Daine Klate (below) will be hopeful that his troops have learnt from their mistakes as he chases his first win in the DStv Premiership as a coach.

Chippa travel to Johannesburg for a meeting with Pirates tomorrow, with Klate having recorded one draw and one loss in his first two games as the Chilli Boys head coach.

Klate wasn’t happy with how his side lost 3-1 to Royal AM in midweek, saying that minor mistakes cost the club.

He will be hoping his players minimise their errors, especially coming up against a Pirates side eager for their second win of the season after one win and a draw.

“I am hoping they learn, because it is nice when they experience these types of things,” said Klate.

“Sometimes when you lose games like this…the score is not a reflection of the game.

“If we really think about the two mistakes (against Royal AM) had we not made them, it would have been a different story. But be that as it may, we have another chance on Sunday [tomorrow] to rectify them (the mistakes),” said Klate, who once played for the Buccaneers.

“I think in a nutshell, we have to take the positives because we have another game and we will just take it from there. But we obviously have to look at what went wrong and then try rectify our mistakes in this short space of time so that we can prepare for Pirates.”

The Chippa mentor is pinning his hopes on some of his youngsters who have been promoted to the first team to shine and help the team be at its best.

“The youngsters – Thulani Mini, Siphelele Luthuli, Aviwe Mqokozo and Diego Appollis, all made a difference and showed hunger. The more opportunities they get, the better we will become as a team.”
