Language dragged into pits of hell
Radio station 702 has a daily competition, aimed at young learners. Up to now one of the questions has tested spelling ability. Sadly, the majority of the contestants failed dismally.
The spelling question has now been removed.
This poses the question whether English has relevance in schools? And further, is the language being taught correctly?
There is nothing more infuriating than poor articulation of an important language.
The inability to spell reflects poorly on the education department and the teachers who must be tearing their hair out ... as the beautiful English language is dragged into the pits of language hell.
The station could help by offering a Spellathon, with a sizeable prize attached.
