Hunt furious over home Swallows draw

GAVIN Hunt and Zeca Marques both expressed irritation at the inability of SuperSport United and Moroka Swallows to take their chances during a goalless draw in a League match at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.

Hunt was the more furious of the two coaches as he struggled to hold back his anger during the post-match interviews.

Especially as he could not believe that substitute Thabiso Nkoana was the biggest culprit of all.

The United striker could have had a hat-trick shortly after coming on in the second half, but missed out in one-on-ones with Swallows keeper Greg Etafia. The result left

sixth on the log standings and may see them fall short of the fourth spot they had targeted with two games to go.

“I’ve been saying the same thing the whole year,” said Hunt. “What do you want me to say? We should have won the game by seven or eight goals. What do you want me to say?

“Nkoana should have scored a hat- trick today. How many chances did we create in the first half? How many more chances did we create in the second? What do you want me to do?”

Failing to find the back of the net has been the story of United’s season with Hunt admitting that they could have been up there fighting for the league had they not drawn 16 of their matches.

“We should have won this game easily. We could have won the league,” said Hunt.

Swallows coach Marques shared the same sentiments, but was content with the point.

“A point is better than nothing. But I think it was a game of missed chances from both teams,” Marques said. “When you look at the game, I think we had a lot of good chances.

“But SuperSport had a couple of great chances, especially in the last five minutes. It was one of those situations but I’m happy with the way we competed.”
