his season’s Midas Historic Tour will end in style on Saturday, with a large entry tackling the final round at Kyalami. Heading up proceeding­s will be two races for SKF pre-1966 sports and production cars.

Likely overall race winners will include Mark du Toit (Lola T70 Spyder), Ross Lazarus (Ford GT40) and Oliver Dalais (Ford GT40).

Further back in the sports car field fierce battles are predicted between Denis McBeath (Mpiti Renault), Josh Dovey (Lotus 26R), Evert Botha ( Porsche 911), Roger Houston ( MGB), Thomas Falkiner (GSM Dart) and Ferdi van Niekerk (Porsche 356).

Top saloon car contenders will include Paolo Cavalieri ( Ford Galaxy), Jonathan du Toit (Chevrolet Nova), Ferdi van Niekerk Junior (Ford Mustang GT), Roy Prando (Alfa Romeo GTA), Marc Miller (Alfa Romeo Giulia), Clive Densham (Alfa Romeo Giulia),

Frank Copping ( Renault Dauphine) and Terence Botes (Mini Cooper).

The Consolidat­ed Auctioneer­s pre-1984 Sports and GT races should see top contenders in George Avvakoumid­es (Ocean Basket Porsche 911), Peter Jenkins (Nucleus Chains Chevron B19), Dino Scribante (Porsche RSR), Frank Klinkert (Cobra Roadster), Kola de Klerk (Datsun 300ZX) and Kobus Brits (Porsche 911R).

A massive 55-car entry will tackle the Marlboro Crane Hire Historic Saloon Car events, led by people like Anton Raaths (Mazda R100 Coupe), Mike Schmidt (Gumtree Capri Perana), Clive Densham (Alfa Romeo Giulia), Neil Lobb (Fiat 131 Abarth), Steve Truter (Ford Escort), Steve Colloty (Datsun SSS), Niel Reynecke (Chevrolet CanAm), Johan Prins (Datsun 160U) and Jannie van Rooyen (VW Scirocco).

The Sabat Lotus Challenge will boast 38 cars. Top contenders will include Klippies Krige (Lotus 7), Jeff Gable (Glovest Lotus Birkin 7), Fred Alberts (Signkor Lotus Birkin), Lauren Muller (Tornado Lotus Birkin), Peter Ivanov (One Love Birkin), Sean Hewitt (Lotus Birkin) and Rob Gearing (Clive Wilmot Birkin).

The ever-growing Investchem Formula Ford Kent class will see 16 cars on the grid, among them Ian Schofield (Investchem Mygale), Matthys Strydom (Xena Chemicals Taylon), Graham Hepburn (Suburban Reynard and Ben van der Westhuizen (Pioneer Plastics Royale).

Racing starts at 9am, with each category tackling two heats during the course of the day. Admission is R50 per adult, and children under 16 go in for free. –
