Krejcir freedom bid again
Five times may be the lucky number for Czech Republic national Radovan Krejcir as he applies for bail in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court today.
Since Krejcir’s initial arrest in November 2013, all four of his bail applications have failed.
The charges against Krejcir have also piled up.
He faces prison time in his native Czech Republic of 11 years for money laundering, and in South Africa he faces charges of kidnapping, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and murder.
Today’s bail application will revolve around Krejcir’s latest arrest for the murder of Sam “Cripple Sam” Issa in Bedfordview shortly before Krejcir’s very first arrest.
Krejcir was initially arrested for kidnapping, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, and attempted murder. The charges stem from an alleged drug deal worth R24 million for 25kg of crystal methamphetamine which the State claims “went bad”. The drugs were purportedly destined for Australia and the person allegedly responsible for shipping them from OR Tambo International airport disappeared.
This led to the alleged kidnapping and subsequent torture of the supposed dealer’s brother, Bhekithemba Lukhele, by Krejcir, Sandton businessman Desai Luphondo, former East Rand Organised Crime Unit warrant officers Samuel “Saddam” Maropeng, George Nthoroane and Jan Mofokeng, and Siboniso Miya.
Krejcir, Miya, Jacob Nare, Owen Serero, and Zodumo Biyela, ex-Crime Intelligence Sergeant Nandi Nkosi, Welcome Nkanyiso Mafunda, Siphiwe Memela and Mike Borislov Grigorov all face charges of conspiracy to kill forensic consultant Paul O’Sullivan and Crime Intelligence Colonel “Killer” Ximba, and possession of unlicensed firearms – an R-5 automatic urban assault rifle and a 9mm pistol – plus unlicensed ammunition.
