Donald still keeps the faith

The Knights and Highveld Lions will both be desperate for victory when they face off in a Momentum One-Day Cup match in Bloemfontein today.

The visitors may be in pole position to get to the play-offs, but the home side too is not willing to throw in the towel in their bid to pull off the improbable.

The Lions are second, compared to fi fth for the Knights, who must win their last two matches and other things need to go in their favour in order to get there.

“We’ve realised that we only have a remote chance and we have to rely on other teams for favours,” said Allan Donald (above).

“But if there’s a foot in the back door, then there’s a foot in the back door.

The Knights coach feels his side have every reason to keep believing.

“With all that has been going on in this competition, I feel we’re really close to putting in a perfect performance,” he added. “Hopefully in the next couple of games we can do that.”

A win for the Lions will end the Knights’ hopes.

Coach Geoff Toyana is just happy they control their own destiny.

“We’re still in a good position considering that fate is in our hands,” he said.

Opener Rassie van der Dussen has been replaced by Devon Conway, while seamer Carmi le Roux has also been added to the squad. – Own Correspondent
