MotorEx aims to dazzle petrolheads with automotive spectacle

-

For the first time, the Speed and Sound Motor Expo – dubbed MotorEx – will open its doors to the general public and will coincide with the 16th year of Speed and Sound Magazine’s existence as the leading media authority in automotive performance tuning and car audio.

MotorEx will showcase specialty automotive performance parts and products as well as high end products seldom seen at any other car show in South Africa, and what better way than to do so than at The Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg.

Annie Silva, Director at Speed and Sound Motor Expo adds: “Our long term aim in creating this event will be to create awareness to the young, performance-driven target audience each year and to create an annual and internationally recognised motor show that will showcase and highlight the massive tuning scene in Africa.”

MotorEx will be open on Friday the 16th of September from 2pm to 11pm, and will give showgoers the first opportunity to see the highlights of this year’s show. Fans who come into the show on the Friday night will not only be among the first to witness the spectacle but to also take in the various attractions that are planned for the entire weekend.

Friday’s event will run late into the evening with a planned mass social parkoff named “My Car Got Shot”, and the Tuner’s Market at dusk.

“The cars under full lights look spectacular, so changing it to a night-time unveil will be an incredible sight. We’ve also introduced an arena where visitors can watch and witness guest judges and celebrities host the various motoring-based competitions, so it will really enhance the overall experience of our show,” concludes Silva.

The weekend’s main highlight is the Meguiar’s Best of Show, and features the grand unveiling of some of South Africa’s ultimate show cars and proceedings will be televised on a giant screen inside the Dome from Friday to Sunday.

Another fantastic element of the event is the huge trade arena in which 70 performance tuning and car audio exhibitors will showcase the latest and greatest products, parts and services to the huge crowds in attendance over the weekend’s festival of everything custom, performance and collectable.

Visitors are urged to bring spending money as never-to-be-repeated specials will be on offer for the true modifier. In addition to the Expo, Nitro Alley will add thunder to the dimmed atmosphere as it explodes twice a day till Sunday.

Car audio fans will savour the SPL Hot Hatch Challenge on Saturday, as well as the Toy Car Shoot-out on Sunday, but all eyes will be directed at the live three-day build-off competition where three famous car audio brands will try to outwit and outplay each other by building a car audio system from scratch and to see who has built the Loudest Car of Show.

Other events to tug on the true modifier’s heartstrings will be the Dyno Challenges on Saturday, and the exciting Low Car Limbo and Grounded Stance events on Sunday which will be hosted by entertainer and comedic genius Jason Goliath.

Tickets are on sale, and visitors are encouraged to log onto ticketpro.co.za for the early-bird ticket specials which also features Weekend and Family packages. Ticket prices start from R200 and for more information and itinerary on the Speed and Sound Motor Expo visit speedandsoundexpo.co.za.
