Superbike action hits PE
SUPER CLASS CHAMP SCHOLTZ WILL BE THE MAN TO BEAT
The 2016 SuperGP Championship will make its first visit to the Aldo Scribante circuit in Port Elizabeth this Saturday. Topping the event will be two races for SuperGP motorcycles, with championship leader Mathew Scholtz (ETR Yamaha R1) to face off against Michael White (Consortium Shipping Yamaha R1) and defending champion Clint Seller (Neolife Yamaha R1).
Able to interfere with their struggle will be riders like Greg Gildenhuys (Kreepy Krauly Kawasaki ZX10-R), veteran Lance Isaacs (LIR BMW S1000RR) and Daryn Upton (Turnskill Engineering Yamaha R1).
Isaacs holds a comfortable lead in the SuperMasters Challenge, with his closest adversaries Damon Purificati (Amalgam Welding Kawasaki ZX10-R) and Etienne Nelson (BMW S1000RR).
Adolf Boshoff (Neolife Yamaha R6) should be the man to beat in the Super600 category, chased by Steven Odendaal (Petra Yamaha R6), Blaze Baker (Uncle Andy Suzuki GSXR 600), Nicole van Aswegen (Women in Motorsport Triumph 675), Dylan Barnard (Kawasaki ZX6) and Kewyn Snyman (Inex Construction Kawasaki ZX6).
Capetonian Brandon Staffen leads the way in the SuperJunior championship, ahead of Aiden Liebenberg, Tyreece Robert, CJ Hackart, Luca Coccioni and Jared Schultz.
As always, the tight and twisty Aldo Scribante infield will test tyres to the full, and taking care of the rubberware on raceday will play an important role.
The national categories will be supported by the BOTTS riders.
Qualifying will take place on Friday, with racing to get underway on Saturday at 10am.
