Zumas are hyena family – Vavi

South African Federation of Trade Unions leader Zwelinzima Vavi says SA is in a deep political and economic crisis and there is no radical economic transformation.

According to Vavi, the people who are backing President Jacob Zuma are “telling lies.”

He said SA had become the most unequal society in the world, with record-breaking levels of unemployment of black people, women and youth.

Vavi, Black First Land First’s Andele Mngxitama, Professor Mcebisi Ndletyana and former EFF member Magdalene Moonsamy spoke at a seminar at Tshwane University of Technology where they discussed: “Is the post-apartheid state unravelling?”

Vavi said South Africans needed to stop the move towards a kleptocratic capitalist order governed by a predatory faction that was linked to the first family. Vavi described this as a typical hyena family where the first family ate first and the rest followed.

He warned about the devastating impact of the country being relegated to junk status.

“Check how many workers are going to lose their jobs and how many in the middle strata are going to see their houses and cars repossessed,” Vavi said.

Neither Zuma nor Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba represented radical economic transformation.

Former finance minister Pravin Gordhan was removed so “we can have nuclear; so that SAA can have their billions and waste the money of taxpayers; so that we can save the SABC and continue to have chaos there; so that Eskom can continue to plunge our country into load shedding to increase the prices of their tenders for the benefit of the Guptas,” said Vavi.

“The agenda is to steal and to steal for the family and the friends of the family.”
