Experience drifting

-

Visitors to this year’s Rand Show will be able to sample the thrills of drifting for themselves, via the efforts of the Greensky Dragon Energy Drift Team’s drivers Ryde Jones, Jim McFarlane and Mikey Skelton.

From April 14 to 23, the three drivers will burn an enormous amount of rubber in sideways sliding displays during the course of each day.

For R150, visitors will be able to hop into the team’s six-litre V8 Chevrolet SS Lumina, or 3.5-litre V6 Nissan 350Z, to go for a smoky ride with a driver.

Thrill-seekers can also head for the Rand Show’s Action Zone to see motocross aces Nick de Wit and his crew in action.

And petrolheads should not miss the Route-66-themed motoring hall, for a nostalgic road trip back in time.

There will be multiple displays of classic cars and bikes, and you can watch a Backdraft Cobra being built from the chassis up.

The Rand Show will run from Friday, April 14 to Sunday, April 23 from 9am to 7pm at the Jo’burg Expo Centre, Nasrec (GPS - S26°14.484’ E27°58.510).

There will be ample secure paid parking at the venue, with visible policing.

Rand Show tickets at the gate will cost R150 for adults, R50 for pensioners, R50 for kids between 13 and 16 years, R20 for kids from 6 to 12 years, and under six enter free.
