RESTAURANT FEATURE Dinner and a show
FAMILY FUN AT EMPERORS PALACE Open yourself up to a world of Autobots and Decepticons at Transformers Animatronics exhibition.
If you love fairytales you’ll love the new Afrikaans pantomime Doringrosie, opening at Theatre of Marcellus on May 5. Pop singer Charlize Berg stars as Doringrosie with hunky Marno van der Merwe as Prince Alwyn and Bianca le Grange as Maleficent (renamed Belladonna in this stage spectacular). For some comic relief you can rely on Hannes Brümmer and Tiaan Rautenbach as the good fairies.
Doringrosie is produced by Renier and Lise-Marie Keyser from Add-Life Productions who have produced shows such as Houtkruis, Ester, Dawid, Liefling, Droomkind, Sneeuwitjie and last year’s Aspoestertjie.
Doringrosie is on until June 4 with shows at 11am, 3pm and 7.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays. There’s also 7.30pm shows on Thursdays and Fridays.
While you’re waiting for the show, you can also visit the Transformers Animatronics, a unique event based on the popular Hasbro saga. This travelling exhibition of international standards features 12 animated Transformers, 9 sculptures scaled between 2m and 11m made from car parts, and a further 20 statues varying in size.
In addition, an impressive arsenal of weapons used by the Transformers characters will also be showcased.
Young and old can immerse themselves in the universe of Optimus Prime and his companions, from its origins in the world of comics to the television series and blockbuster movies. Autobots and Decepticons will also feature, accompanied by the latest Dino Bots and famous Rescue Bots, the famed pre-school series that has expanded the Transformers fan base. The exhibition ends May 28.
