Old Johannesburg Warehouse Auctioneers’ speed is not broken with their mid-year auction. The weekend of June 24 and 25 presents exciting auctioning fun with a variety of interesting items that will be auctioned over two days!
On June 24 at 9:30am, the auction begins with an eclectic mix of antiques: beautiful silver pieces, amazing oriental ceramics, exceptional furniture (especially a beautiful colonial writing desk), Ardmore, a Royal Doulton ‘Three musketeers’ loving cup, a large collection of vintage radios, sparkling jewellery, vintage toys and pedal carts. Of particular importance is the original 157-year-old bronze clock once used on Robben Island’s leper colony. He was a Cape auctioneer who was in charge of selling the Leper Colony on Robben Island to the Military Authorities. The bell is 45cm high and weighs 45kg.
At 1pm the art session begins – over 100 lots of traditional and contemporary South African and international art by the likes of Gregoire Boonzaier, Thinus de Jongh, Dino Paravano, Corne Weidemann, Gerhard Batha, Pieter van der Westhuizen, Allen Hallet, Roelof Roussouw, to name a few, goes under the hammer. On the second day of the auction, Sunday June 25, the proceedings begin again at 09:30am. A treasure trove of furniture, jewellery, ceramics, glass, silverware, general art and more will keep auction goers busy.
