Leave cadres to clean ANC mess
Some of us are being labelled all sorts of things by certain forces for defending the ANC constitution and the oath of membership. There is something strange about it.
What they blatantly refuse to accept is that the ANC leadership issued a directive for members to observe borders and refrain from canvassing divisive issues to test public opinion.
Although a majority decision prevailed by direct consequence, a few opted out of the principle of democratic centralism. The latter prompted a disciplinary action to deal with those rebels.
I suppose detractors had wanted the ANC to throw away the constitution in favour of taking instructions from the streets on how to direct its affairs.
At the core of this lies the desire to be handed the ANC he- gemony in society on a plate and a quest to conquer state power by hook or by crook.
It’s not surprising that they’re using rogue elements to infiltrate our movement. But we’re ready to weed out ill-disciplined characters.
ANC deputy president Cyril Ramphosa, pictured, told a conference of the SACP: “At no point in the history of our movement has factionalism and division become so brazen, so pronounced, so confident. We know all too well some of the causes of these ructions within our house.”
Cadres must close ranks and take collective responsibility for the problems suffocating our house. Surely, washing dirty linen in public would compromise the party discipline?
