Silver glint in Reyaad’s eyes
SuperSport United goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse (above) has his eyes set on two pieces of silverware – the first being the MTN8 and the other, the Caf Confederation Cup.
United are in the last eight of the Confederation Cup where they will play Zambian side Zesco United in the first leg next month. But before the quarterfinal, Pieterse will go up against his former employers Kaizer Chiefs for a fourth time since joining Matsatsantsa over a year ago.
“We have a possibility of reaching two finals, that being the MTN8 and the Confederation Cup, and of course at the end of the day, that silverware will be an opportunity for us to write history for the team. We have the opportunity to do that,” he said.
“Watching Chiefs in the Carling Cup, they looked very strong, but I believe we have a good solid foundation in front of us. We have the calibre to go all the way. And with the players that we’ve got, I believe we have what it takes to contend for the league title next season,” he added.
Under the tutelage of new coach Eric Tinkler, the 25-yearold admits it may take some time for the club to gel, considering the departures and introduction of new players, but once they adapt to Tinker’s philosophy, he is adamant they will work like a welloiled machine.
“The coach is still instilling his philosophy into us and we are adapting very nicely,” he said.
