Trainer Phillip Smith

The National Horseracin­g Authority confirms that at an inquiry held at Flamingo Park Racecourse on 21 August 2017, Trainer Phillip Smith was charged with a contravent­ion of Rule 72.1.45, in that he presented a horse to race, which was not the correct and carded horse, Molly’s Chambers, to run in Race 10 at the Flamingo Park Racecourse on 5 August 2017, and as a consequenc­e, Molly’s Chambers was withdrawn.

Trainer Smith pleaded guilty to the charge and was found guilty of the charge.

The Board, after taking into account all the evidence presented, as well as the mitigating factors, imposed a penalty of a fine of R15,000, of which R5,000 is suspended for a period of one year, provided that during the period of suspension he is not convicted of a contravent­ion of Rule 72.1.45.

Trainer Smith has the Right of Appeal against the penalty imposed.

Jockey Teaque Gould

The National Horseracin­g Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Port Elizabeth on 18 August 2017, Jockey Teaque Gould was charged with a contravent­ion of Rule 72.1.40, in that he failed to comply with a reasonable order from a licensed official. He was also charged with a contravent­ion of Rule 72.1.10 in that he illtreated his mount Eviction by failing to dismount this colt, while fully aware that the horse was lame after the running of Race 5 at the Fairview Racecourse on 28 July 2017.

Jockey Gould pleaded guilty to both charges.

The Inquiry Board found Jockey Gould guilty of both charges and imposed a fine of R1,500 for the contravent­ion of Rule 72.1.40 and R10,000 for the contravent­ion of Rule 72.1.10.

Jockey Gould has the Right of Appeal against the penalties imposed.

Jockey Randall Simons

The National Horseracin­g Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held on 12 August 2017 in the Stipendiar­y Stewards Boardroom at Turffontei­n Racecourse, Jockey Randall Simons was charged with a contravent­ion of Rule 56.4.1.3, in that he failed to proceed to the parade ring immediatel­y after being instructed to do so by the Clerk of Scales, prior to the running of Race 6 at the Vaal Racecourse on 10 August 2017.

Jockey Simons pleaded guilty to the charge and was found guilty of the charge.

The Board imposed a penalty of a fine of R1,000.

Jockey Simons has the right of appeal against the penalty imposed.
