CHAMPIONSHIP LEADER CAN TAKE CROWN BY WINNING BOTH RACES Gildenhuys is the only other rider with a mathematical chance.

-

he penultimate round of the 2017 DEOD SuperGP Championship will take place at the Free State Phakisa Raceway this Saturday.

SuperGP championship leader Clint Seller (MiWay Yamaha R1) could clinch the title this weekend, by winning both of Saturday’s races.

Greg Gildenhuys (Autohaus Towing Kawasaki ZX10R) is the only other rider with a mathematical chance of preventing Seller from claiming another title, but needs the MiWay rider to suffer retirements in all of the

season’s remaining races to do so. The battle for third place in the 2017 championship is a four-way fight between Michael White (Consortium Shipping Yamaha R1), AJ Venter (Hygenica Yamaha R1), David McFadden (Sandton Auto BMW) and Lance Isaacs (Supabets BMW). Reigning Super600 champion Adolf Boshoff will make his SuperGP debut aboard a second MiWay Yamaha Racing R1 this weekend.

Fighting for the SuperMasters title lead will be Johnny Krieger (Hygenica Yamaha R1), Heinrich Rheeder (BMW Motorrad S1000RR) and Beau Levey (Motos Blu Cru Yamaha R1).

Top contenders in the Super600 races should include Hayden Jonas (MiWay Yamaha R6), Steven Odendaal (Petra Yamaha R6), Blaze Baker (Uncle Andy Suzuki

GSXR600), Aiden Liebenberg (Fercor Construction Kawasaki ZX6), Malcolm Rudman (Montclair Kawasaki ZX6) and Jesse Boshoff (Phoenix Payroll Kawasaki ZX6).

Tyreece Robert (KTM390), Ricardo Otto (Inex Construction KTM390) and Taric van der Merwe (Evolve Nutrition KTM390) should be the riders to beat in the SuperJunior category.

In addition to the national championship categories, there will be a full programme of regional and club racing.

Practice and qualifying will take place on Friday with a full day of racing on Saturday. – Motorcycle Racing Correspondent
