Dear Doctor, My eyes are constantly red and watery. I’ve tried using eye drops but this doesn’t seem to help. What should I do?

Please read the article on the left. I’m talking about the different causes of eye infections and inflammations. Viruses, bacteria or allergies are the most common causes.

It is not advisable to just get over-the-counter drops without first getting a proper diagnosis. Please see your doctor for evaluation so that treatment can be prescribed for you.

Dear Doctor, Can thrush be passed on to my husband? Is it an STI and how does one get rid of it?

Thrush is not necessarily an STI, but it is possible to pass the irritation to your partner if you are not having protected sex.

It is a fungal infection mostly related to stress, abnormal sugar levels, reactions to chemicals in soaps and also overuse of antibiotics. Please see your doctor to get proper long-term management of the thrush.

Dear Doctor, How does one get rid of ringworm around the scalp and behind the ears? My skin has become flaky and is very itchy.

I’m not sure if you have received treatment yet, but you should.

How long have you had the infection? Ask the doctor to also review with you the risk factors, to prevent recurrence.
