ONE OF THIS YEAR’S BEST!

-

Spring has sprung and the last quarter of 2017 is finally here! Old Johannesburg Warehouse Auctioneers has kept the best few auctions for last. On Saturday September 30 at 9.30am the auction begins with an eclectic mix of antiques – beautiful silver, including a large Georg Jensen Acorn pattern cutlery set, an amazing selection of ceramics, rare Clarice Cliff, an exceptional partner’s desk from the office of the former chairperson of Barloworld and a fantastic red leather Chesterfield set.

In the same session car fanatics might just drool over the line-up: No less than NINE classics will be on the auction sale. Starting with a stunning, completely restored USA classic: a 1941 Harley Davidson 45 Solo “Liberator” in original olive-green desert finish. And an expertly restored yellow 1969 VW Kombi single cab bakkie and an original green 1975 Mercedes Benz 230.6 sedan in excellent condition. And a massive barnyard find: three bay-window VW Kombis from the 1970s ready to be restored, in unrestored condition.

At 1pm, the art session begins – over 100 lots of South African and international art. Of special mention is the large bronze by Sidney Kumalo of a mother and child.

On the second day of the auction, Sunday October 1, the proceedings begin again at 9.30am. A treasure trove of furniture, ceramics, glass, silverware, general art and more will keep auction goers busy for hours with over 500 lots to choose from.

As usual for the Sunday, the stand-alone jewellery, precious stone and watch session, begins at midday with over 200 glittering lots waiting. A few notable items: a 2.18 ct solitaire diamond ring, a 1970s 18ct gold men’s Patek Philippe watch on a leather strap, a men’s carbon fiber Audemars Piquet (Alinghi team) wristwatch with presale estimate of R270 000 – 350 000 and a Piaget 18ct gold and jade ladies wristwatch.

If you cannot make it to the auction, there is a convenient online commission bidding tool on the website.
