Violence at schools needs addressing

-

Our schools are now becoming even more dangerous it seems. Safety is no longer a priority. Our kids at schools are doing as they please, entering the school gates with dangerous weapons of all descriptions.

This is unacceptable and puts the lives of many innocents in danger.

It recently happened at Van Riebeeck High School in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, where schoolkids were fighting teachers using anything they could lay their hands on.

The worst part of it is that some of these violent acts have even happened in the presence of the Gauteng MEC for education, Panyaza Lesufi, pictured.

It is obvious that control is no longer there.

I think is time that we, as parents, no longer relied on security at our schools. We have a part to play in terms of safety.

A schoolboy was stabbed and killed in front of teachers and the principal at Solomon Mahlangu secondary school in Modimolle in Limpopo.

According to an eyewitness, no one tried to interfere or even tried to save that boy from being stabbed.

It is actually a disgrace. Why can’t we protect what is rightfully ours?

Why can’t we take responsibility where we have to?

Let’s start acting before the situation get even worse.
