Kids light up St Peter’s Square
– A giant Christmas tree and a larger-than-life Nativity scene were due to be inaugurated yesterday in St Peter’s Square, as part of the Vatican’s seasonal traditions.
The 28-metre high spruce features baubles designed by children from cancer hospitals and from earthquake-stricken central Italy.
The Nativity scene, occupying an 80m2 area, was made by Neapolitan craftsmen and was donated by a Benedectine sanctuary. – dpa
