EFF’s reaction to racism was spot on
Recently, an international clothing label by the name of H&M decided to print a hoodie modelled by a young black boy. Written on it was “Coolest monkey in the jungle”.
This caused a major global uproar, with many people finding it offensive.
It certainly became a hot topic, leaving many divided on the issue and angry, which is understandable.
Here at home, it certainly left us divided, especially after the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) decided to visit and protest at numerous H&M stores, leaving management with no option but to shut down.

strong message to racists.
Some clearly found what the EFF did as irresponsible, violent and an act of criminality.
I, however, like many South Africans, am of a different view. Racism by nature is abusive and violent, as well as damaging psychologically, and therefore must be met with the same poisonous venom it spits out.
It’s heartbreaking when people, especially black people, are worried about how the oppressed reacts, instead of focusing on the oppressor who perpetuates the violence.
