Ajax could face sanctions after Ndoro fielded

Ajax Cape Town picked up a vital three points in their battle against relegation against Orlando Pirates on Wednesday night, but the club could still find themselves in hot water over their decision to field Zimbabwean striker Tendai Ndoro (right) at Cape Town Stadium.

Fifa rules clearly state that a player is only allowed to play for two clubs in one season, and Ndoro, who signed in January, has already played for both Orlando Pirates and Saudi side Al Faisaly in the 2017/18 campaign.

A PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) this week then cleared Ndoro to play against Ajax, though the PSL later that day announced that they would be appealing their DRC’s decision.

If the PSL get their appeal upheld by the DRC, then they could issue sanctions against Ajax, not just for fielding Ndoro in the Orlando Pirates match, but also in the games against Platinum Stars and Ajax.

On Wednesday night, Pirates also issued a formal protest to the match commissioner over Ajax’s decision to field Ndoro. September also confirmed to

Phakaaathi Plus yesterday that the PSL had written to both Fifa and Ajax Cape Town regarding the matter.

The PSL, meanwhile, did nothing wrong in registering Ndoro, as Fifa rules say a player is allowed to be registered for three different clubs in one season, he is just only allowed to
