- Tshepiso Makhele

After creating one hit after another, AKA, pictured, is doing it again. This time, he dropped Sweet Fire, a single, which his massive fanbase has given a hot reception.

The rapper took to Twitter to say the track was dedicated to “the memory and music of Ray Phiri and Stimela, and all those who we’ve loved and lost”.

Sweet Fire is AKA’s second single from his latest album; the one he dropped last year was Touch My Blood.

Meanwhile, American Producer Ebro Darden has taken on AKA’s single, which is currently topping iTunes International charts.

Darden is a radio presenter and an American executive producer for Hot 97. He is a respected radio personality known for his influence in the American hip-hop industry. He learnt of the track on SA iTunes.

In an interview with HuffPost SA, Composure hit-maker AKA said: “I wanted people to feel and connect with the music.”

Despite the negative publicity around AKA’s alleged broken relationship with television and radio personality Bonang Matheba, the rapper flourishes.

AKA won Best Street Urban Music Album and Male Artist of the Year at the 18th South African Music Awards.

In June 2015, his second album, Levels, was certified gold by the Recording Industry of South Africa (Risa), for shipments of more than 20 000 copies domestically.

As of May 2016, the album was certified platinum by Risa.

In the same year, AKA’s won Best Collaboration and Best Hit Single at the 15th Metro FM Music Awards.
