The race for league honours in the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League is intensifying and this weekend should not be any different as leaders Maccabi FC come up against Swallows FC at the Sinaba Stadium today.

Maccabi are on top of the standings with 52 points after 26 matches but only one point separates them from JDR Stars, who still have a game in hand.

The Ekurhuleni-based side had a bright start in the league, but their last five games have seen them drop crucial points recording one victory, one loss and three draws.

Swallows, meanwhile, are in sixth place in the league standings and with 45 points from the same number of games as Maccabi.

The Birds have shown quite an improvement in the league having won three of their last five fixtures, recording one defeat and one draw in the process.
