The annual Met Gala in association with leading fashion magazine, Vogue, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York city took place on the first Monday of May, with this year’s theme being Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.

Designers like Balmain, Gucci and Versace interpreted it into stylish garments which would only be worn by the rich and famous.

The gala aims to raise funds for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute by auctioning garments showcased by movie stars, musicians and reality stars on the white carpet.

Hosted by the queen of fashion, Anna Wintour, the Met Gala sets the precedent for which celebrities will make it big in the year as well as which design houses need to pack up and close shop.

So what does one wear to an occasion such as this?

One should definitely put in more time into their look, unlike reality star Kim Karashian and half-sister Kylie Jenner who could have stayed at home for all I care, especially after having won the Best Dressed title for three years running.

This year, however, both sisters looked rather ordinary.

First-time attendees, award-winning female rapper and soon to be mom Cardi B, The Assassination of Giani Versace lead actor Darren Criss and multimillion blockbuster Black Panther lead actor Chadwick Boseman
