Defending Fifa World Cup champions Germany need to get their campaign on track tomorrow night when they face Sweden after suffering a shock 1-0 defeat in their opening game against the Mexicans.

The Germans have an impressive record against Janne Andersson’s side, having won five of their last seven meetings since 1990. Despite the defeat to Javier Hernandez and company, Joachim Loew’s men head into this match as overwhelming favourites to take all three points in the tight looking Group F.

If Germany are to repeat Spain’s feat of winning the World Cup after succumbing to defeat in their opening game – as a Vicente del Bosque-led Spain lost 1-0 to Switzerland in the South African World Cup finals eight years ago – they know better than most that they will have to begin with a victory against the Swedes, and I believe that Germany will begin to play like defending champions at the Fisth Stadium.
