Pirates ready for Highlands

Vincent Pule is confident that Orlando Pirates have prepared well during their pre-season to kickstart their league campaign on a positive note.

The Buccaneers host promoted Highlands Park at the Orlando Stadium tonight.

“Pre-season was tough, but we worked well and did everything that we were supposed to do so that we can be ready when the league starts,” said the winger.

“I believe that we are ready for Highlands. Everyone has been working really hard since from day one and you can tell that we are all hungry for some action. The friendly games we played during the pre-season says a lot, we competed and showed we want to do well this season. And I think the first league game is doubly important. We want do well so our fans can see we want to make them happy and that they should believe in us.”

Pule, however, doesn’t take the Lions of the North for granted, he says the club has quality players looking at the way they won promotion to the league with four games to spare.

“You can tell they are a very ambitious side with good players in their team. The way they won promotion back to the PSL says a lot about them. But we will just have to focus on our game because we know what we are capable of as well.”

As one of the new players in Micho Sredojevic’s squad, the former Bidvest Wits player says one of the important things he had to do when he came to Bucs was to gel with everyone in the team.

“It’s important to know everybody and know what kind of a player they are, it makes things simple when the guys play together.

“I am so pleased the guys at Pirates welcomed us with warm hands on our first day and that made things simple because now we are all a big happy family looking to take the club to the top,” he added.
