Believing in a winning formula

The Citizen (KZN) - - FRONT PAGE -

It is that time of year where I get to mingle with some of the world’s greatest golfers at the Nedbank Golf Challenge hosted by Gary Player at the stunning playground in the sun – Sun City. It is incredible to see some of the European players compete in the sweltering heat and still perform at a high level. It got me thinking about some relevant questions you may be asking: What does it take to be a professional golfer and what does it take to succeed?

Tiger Woods is one of the all-time greats in golf and throughout his career he was undisputed and plays on a level very few can compete with. The wheels did come off for him which, I believe, had to do more with the mental side of his game rather than physical pose and talent. I have decided to use a more current golfer who is not only a gentleman in golf but also a role model that young children and fellow aspiring golfers can look up to as an example. This is none other than Rory Mcllroy.

I was lucky enough to come across some of the interviews he did over the past five years. Some of the questions posed to him in interviews were what he believes is the secret to his success.
