Big Easy looking to roll back the years

The number of times four-time Major winner Ernie Els has won the SA Open.

It’s been eight years since South African golfer Ernie Els won the last of his five SA Open titles. However, the 49-year-old has not given up hope of adding to his silverware collection after shooting an opening round fiveunder-par 66 on the Bushwillow course at Randpark Golf Club on Thursday. He followed it up yesterday with a level-par 71. Els won the tournament for the first time in 1992, and followed it up with wins in 1996, 1998, 2006 and 2010. Randpark last hosted the SA Open in 2000 when Sweden’s Mathias Grönberg won it.
