CHIEFS AND DOWNS AT FNB BATTLEGROUND

-

Hlompho Kekana has promised Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs fans an exciting football spectacle when the two giants of the Absa Premiership meet at the FNB Stadium this afternoon.

“Football lovers will really enjoy this match because they have been missing the Absa Premiership action and we have been training and preparing for this encounter so that the fans can really enjoy the match,” he said.

“When these two teams play it is more about pride than anything and we expect fireworks. They will really come at us, because they are playing at home. It is going to be a match where we really have to fight – that is the only thing we can do,” he added.

The Masandawana skipper anticipates a testing encounter, factoring in that Chiefs have roped in Ernst Middendorp as the club’s head coach. The German mentor is still without blemish in his second spell at Naturena, having won all three of his assignments so far.

“It is going to be a tricky one because we are playing a team that is very tactical and they have just changed their coach and we don’t know who to expect (to play), but we will be playing Chiefs, not individuals.

“We are going to play a Chiefs side that are very dangerous. We saw how they played against SuperSport United ... we expect a good game of football,” said Kekana.

He continued: “In matches like these I don’t think any player would look for motivation because playing at the FNB Stadium is an motivation for any player in South Africa. We have to try and enjoy the moment, I am hoping we can really go out and enjoy ourselves because this is a match where we really need points but not forget we need to enjoy it.

“As defending champions we really need to be performing and try to really show why we are the champions and try to really represent our team and our people. We have to go to the FNB Stadium and win the match. It is possible and it is do-able.”
