Eligible voters need to take responsibility

Making the cross should be from the head and not the heart, writes

With the elections looming, voters will be spoilt for choice. The idea is to take votes away from the ANC, Democratic Alliance (DA), Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and Inkatha Freedom party (IFP), who are the major parties in SA.

Jacob Zuma once said voting for the small parties is like throwing your vote in the bush.

Voters have a major role and responsibility to play in casting their votes, which should be from their heads and not their hearts.

Performance and policies of parties should be for the benefit of the economy, job creation, housing and being firm on corruption.

Remember, no party is innocent and all have their ups and downs.

Politics is not about perks at the public expense or the “pot of gold” that is tenders .

In South Africa today, a large percentage of the middle class has had a better life since 1994. The ANC is a Ferrari, but has had bad drivers.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has a wealth of experience and hopefully is the driver who will bring the Ferrari back on track.

The DA has lost a lot of support with its dirty laundry washed in public and will have to do and show much more to gain votes .

Opposition and running a government are two different things.

“Great oppositions make great goverments”, but one has to be careful as with too many parties this will create a hung government with no one really in power.

In the end, to make us all proud of our beloved country, vote.

The country lies in the hands of the voters and they need to take responsibility.
