Another ANC term is a depressing thought
Ramaphosa should postpone elections and have another TRC indaba, writes
Des du Triou.
With the general election but a few months away, anyone who thinks the ANC will be swept from power must be smoking a pipe filled with that green leaf liberated by the Constitutional Court.
However, the thought of another four years of sinking deeper into the mire is awfully depressing.
What we really need is for Cyril Ramaphosa to postpone the elections and call for a second TRC indaba, much like the first one, where politicians and other scoundrels can publicly tell the truth through clenched teeth, and church ministers can weep silently behind cassocks as they listen to these lies.
It will prove nothing, of course. There will be no sweeping arrests and prosecutions, no jail time. But at least the populace will know they now vote as authors of their own misery.
Of course, this is all speculative dreaming, and I can only lay back and again light up my pipe.
