Young stars doing the Tango League

- Staff Reporter

The adidas Tango League charged into the new 2019 football season this weekend with an explosive contest between eight Cape-based teams. Quick-footed winner of the Most Versatile Player (MVP) Trophy, Julius Kaseketa, manoeuvred “Super Hot Fives” into victory, winning himself a 12-month adidas boot deal.

The Cape Town leg was a collection of best young regional footballing talent, and the sides did not disappoint, displaying the signature rapid-fire display of footwork that had the Cape crowd on edge in perfect conditions at the Camps Bay Fives Football Court.

The adidas’ 2019 Tango League is a globally lead campaign that combines dazzling football skills with social presence in an intense five to 10-a-side cage tournament. Open to footballers between 16 and 25, the Tango League gives athletes the opportunity to showcase their talent, increase their social media following, and for a select few, the chance to be an adidas-sponsored athlete.

The league is a massive drawcard for young new teams and players and the excitement of the start of the tournament this Saturday brought in an over-subscription of players who dropped in on the day. Keep a look out on adidasza to avoid disappointment by making sure your team is ready to register for the next Tango League Event. Organisers will send mailers to the Fives database and call on regional teams to enter based on correct age, social media, football interest and their activity.

The Tango League celebrated the launch of adidas’ new Exhibit pack, featuring products across adidas Football’s four existing franchises; Copa, Predator, X and Nemeziz.

The Exhibit pack is available now at adidas.co.za and selected retailers.
