Matsatsantsa ‘in good space’

- Michaelson Gumede

SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo believes his side are in a good space to face Micho Sredojevic’s Orlando Pirates tonight in an Absa Premiership clash in Mbombela.

Perhaps the reason the Matsatsantsa A Pitori mentor is in high spirits is that his side come in off back-to-back league wins, over Bloemfontein Celtic and Golden Arrows.

Tembo’s biggest concern is consistency and he sounds relieved that United look to have found the winning formula.

“We know that Pirates are a good team, they have got a good coach, as well, and they have been playing good football.

“I think we are in a good space as well,” he said. “We haven’t really been consistent but we are happy we won our last two games and that has brought back the confidence.

“We have two additions, who have [made] a difference in terms of morale as well.”

One is former Kaizer Chiefs winger George Lebese (below), who is on loan from capital city rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

Lebese faced the Buccaneers a number of times during his days with Amakhosi and Tembo has hinted the 30-year-old might feature tonight.

“He is a big player. He has played for Chiefs and that says a lot about his quality as a player.

“We are aware that he hasn’t been playing for the past couple of months and I am really happy and motivated with his attitude towards training and him wanting to play regularly.”

Tembo added: “We are still trying to build on his match fitness and I think that against Pirates he will play a role.

“I think by the time we play Baroka he will be ready to start.

“He is very good on the ball and he is an effective player because he creates and he scores goals, and that is what we are trying to get out of him.”
