TTS coach told to leave after club fined

In a bizzare twist, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila fired their coach Moma Medic last week just four games into the new season.

The coach’s sacking had nothing to do with the team’s performances but more with an off-thefield disciplinary matter from last season.

It is unclear why the club waited so long to charge the Serb with misconduct for an issue that happened in April. Medic was dismissed after being found guilty of gross misconduct for having failed to field two under-23 players in his team in a game against TS Sporting for which the club was fined by the PSL.

“The team considers the actions of the coach huge and serious in particular for a coach of Medic’s calibre with a reputation for having worked for top Premiership teams like Orlando Pirates among others ... he has experience and knowledge of the game,” read part of the statement. They also claimed the R100 000 fine imposed by the PSL on the club exhausted the team’s funds leading to the club failing to pay the players their play-off bonuses.

TTM are one of the teams who have started the season well and showed promise as early title contenders but the firing of Medic is a setback for the Venda side.

Phuthi Mehafe, who is the assistant coach, will take charge of the team on a caretaker basis in the meantime. TTM’s next match is away to Mbombela United on Saturday.

Real Kings, meanwhile have added former Royal Eagles “junior chairman” Andile Mpisane to their playing squad for the current season as what is seen as the takeover of the club by Shawn Mpisane continues.

Mpisane was announced as the Magic Boys’ new player on Monday and while Kings chairman Bongani Ngidi has previously denied the Mpisane fsamily are now in charge of the team, it certainly appears they have some measured power.

Ngidi said last week that Shawn was just a sponsor of the club as she had offered players she took with when she left Eagles as well as coach Joel Masutha.

Swallows FC, meanwhile, were said yesterday to have parted ways with their head coach Zeca Marques, following a poor start to the season.
