Sun City’s 40th birthday celebrations reach a crescendo with The Big 40 Birthday Party on December 7 – 40 years to the day since the resort’s doors were opened to the public.
An exciting line-up of local artists, who reflect the diversity and depth of talent in South Africa, has been confirmed.
The Big 40 Birthday Party will feature a ticketed concert at the Valley of Waves with a host of top artists like Kwesta, Shekhinah, Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels, Kurt Darren, Mi Casa a n d a special lively production showcasing the resort’s history, culminating with a dazzling fireworks display.
Local band Soulmajestik and Sun City’s Segaetsho Dynasty will also share the stage.

Somizi as MC and performances by Goodluck, Sho Madjozi, AKA, Prince Kaybee, DJ Christos, Vinny da Vinci and DJ Tira.
Tickets are available at Computicket. Early bird tickets are available until October 31 at R1 040 per person for the Valley of Waves party.
This includes entry into Sun City, a welcome drink, a braai menu, star-studded entertainment as well as complimentary access to the after-party. Early bird tickets to the after party are also available separately at Talented singer Keegan Martin, one of the top seven in SA Idols in 2016, will bring the songs by platinum-selling American singer-songwriter Tevin Campbell to life at the Boardwalk in Port Elizabeth on October 26.
Since his participation in the popular SA Idols, Martin has toured the country to perform R300 per person until October 31. Thereafter, tickets will cost R1 300 for the birthday party and R500 for the after party. “Sun City shares Sun International’s commitment to supporting the local music and performing arts industry. “The Big 40 Birthday Party promises to be a spectacular celebration of four decades of delivering exceptional entertainment and experiences,” says Mike van Vuuren, resort general manager.
The resort boasts a choice of accommodation. The Palace is a fivestar hotel offering grand African luxury; the fivestar Cascades offers secluded luxury; the four-star Soho is the resort’s lively Vegas-style for his fans.
One of the highlights of his career was being the opening act for international R&B legend Tamia, when she performed at Carnival City.
Martin also formed a boy band, 15SIX, with former SA Idols contestants Bevin Samuels and Loyiso Gijana. hotel and the three-star Cabanas provide contemporary, islandstyle accommodation.
