Rotation ensures fresh approach - Tembo

- Michaelson Gumede

SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo (below) seems to be slowly adopting a rotation system in his team, although he once stated he is not a big fan of chopping and changing, essentially embodying the ageold “don’t fix it if it is not broken” phrase.

He made three changes in his last match against a Golden Arrows side that they faced in back-to-back league and cup matches. Youngster Luke Fleurs was given a chance on Tuesday ahead of Grant Kekana, who has been the regular centre-back alongside veteran defender Clayton Daniels.

Tembo had a lot of praise for the teenager, who might get a chance to add to his three Absa Premiership appearances this season when Matsatsantsa A

Pitori travel to Braamfontein to face Bidvest Wits tonight.

“Luke Fleurs is strong aerially and he deals with long ball well, he is also a good passer of the ball and I think he has got a bright future ahead of him. He must not look back, he needs to look forward and continue playing,” said Tembo.

Having played three games in the last week, Tembo’s main concern was that his players get enough regeneration and are fresh for what he expects to be a tough encounter against Gavin Hunt’s Students, who are third on the log and are in search for a first win in three games.

United already have Wits’ number this season, having beaten them 3-0 in the MTN8 on their way to lifting the title for a second time in three years.

“It is a tough game – all games are tough actually – look at the game that we played against Arrows, it was really tough. Wits are also a tough team and we need to prepare well and make sure that the guys are rested and recovered well, because recovery is key. I think it will be our third game in seven days. The guys are in the right condition and we will go there and give them back as much as we are likely to get,” said the Matsatsantsa mentor.
